Short version: I keep what I need to run your hosting and take your payment, I don’t sell it, I don’t track you, and you can ask me to delete it.
Who I am
Bitcoin Hosting UK is run by one person, and I’m responsible for the information described here. To ask about it, or to use any of the rights below, email .
Visiting this website
No cookies, no analytics, no trackers, no third-party scripts. The fonts are served from this site. That’s why there’s no cookie banner: there is nothing to ask your consent for. Like any web server, the hosting platform keeps ordinary access logs (including your IP address) for a short time for security and troubleshooting.
When you order
I keep what you put in the order form: your name, your organisation if you give one, your email address, your domain, your plan, any notes you write, and how you heard about us if you say. I also record the IP address the order came from, to spot floods of fake orders. Once you pay, I add your payment history: dates, the pound price, the amount in sats, and the invoice reference.
I use it to create your account, take payment, send receipts and renewal reminders, answer you, and keep the accounts I’m required to keep. That’s all. It’s needed to provide the service you asked for, and to meet legal obligations.
I don’t collect card details, because there aren’t any. Bitcoin payments are, of course, recorded on the Lightning network or the public blockchain in the usual way, and that’s outside my control.
Who else handles it
I don’t sell or share your details for marketing. A few services handle them because they have to, in order to do their part:
- ·The UK hosting company whose servers your site runs on, where your order details and customer records are also stored.
- ·The payment software that creates invoices and tracks payments, which I run myself.
- ·An email delivery service, which sends you receipts and reminders.
- ·My email provider, which holds the mailbox you write to when you email me.
Beyond that I only share information if the law requires it.
How long I keep it
While you’re a customer, and afterwards only as long as I need to. Payment and accounting records are kept for as long as tax law requires. If you order but never pay, or if you leave, I’ll delete the rest of your details when you ask, and in any case don’t keep them without a reason. Your hosted files are handled as set out in the terms: a suspended account’s data is kept for 30 days.
Your website’s own visitors
If you collect personal information on your own site — a mailing list, a meetup sign-up, a contact form — you decide what to collect and why, which makes you responsible for it. I only store it on your behalf and only touch it if you ask me to, for instance to move it or restore a backup.
Your rights
You can ask what I hold about you, have it corrected, have it deleted (apart from records I’m legally required to keep), or object to how I use it. Email me and I’ll deal with it promptly.
If any of this changes I’ll update this page.
